‘You can call me Ship.’

I have been a creative my entire life. I imagine, design, and build things. A sculpture degree from MICA and founding a woodworking company may give merit to that, but at my core, I turn ideas into tangible creations. As I’ve entered retirement, the artwork that fills this site is an example of those creations.

You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.
— Maya Angelou

I also believe in sustainability. Art and design don’t necessarily need ‘new.’ They just need consideration and intention. The pieces you’ll find here all have one thing in common - a focus on sustainability through repurposed and salvaged materials. Over the years, I’ve collected quite a few odds & ends that caught my eye at job sites or old garage sales, and they tend to reside in our barn until finding a new life through art. If and when a new material is purchased, every effort goes into making sure it is sustainable, low VOC, and environmentally friendly.

As for my ‘why’ - I think that remains a work in progress. I just find too much enjoyment in building, and the craftsmanship that’s involved, to ever consider stopping.

Behind the Build.

  • These designs are created to be displayed inside. Unless otherwise noted, the birdhouse is not meant to withstand the outdoors.

  • These are meant to be hung flush to a wall - similar to a painting. The back is not enclosed like the front and sides.

  • These birdhouses do not need any additional assembly once delivered. You only need the included screw to hang them. We recommend screwing directly into a wooden stud and leaving the head of the screw 1/4” away from the finished wall.

  • Local pickup, using promo code ‘LOCAL’ at checkout, is at our shop in northern Baltimore County (19904 Grave Run Road, Hampstead, MD 21074)
